Reel Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-08 Last updated: 2026-10-08
Reel is a video-understanding tool made by Ouroboros ("Ouroboros", "we", "us"), https://ouroborosapps.com. Reel lets your AI assistant (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Grok) "watch" a video you give it and get back a transcript, a timestamped scene log, on-screen text, and a summary. Reel does not return image frames and does not generate video or audio. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and how you delete it.
Short version: we use your videos only to give you results. We delete source videos within 24 hours, we don't sell your data, and we don't train AI models on your content.
1. What we collect
| Data | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account info: email address, name (if provided), and an account ID from the sign-in provider | When you sign in with OAuth (for example Google) | To create your account, secure it, and contact you about the service |
| Videos you submit: uploaded files, direct video links, Google Drive files you pick, and public YouTube links | You, through your AI assistant or the Reel website | To process the video you asked about |
| Outputs: transcripts, on-screen text (OCR), scene logs, summaries, and answers to your questions | Generated by Reel from your video | To return results to you and, if you choose, keep them for later |
| Your questions: the short instruction or question you send with a video | Your AI assistant passes it to Reel | To answer it |
| Usage and billing records: minutes processed, plan, trial status, timestamps of jobs | Generated by Reel | To enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and bill correctly |
| Payment info | Entered by you on Stripe's checkout | Handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive a customer ID, plan status, and the last 4 digits and brand of your card. |
| Technical data: IP address, browser or client type, error logs | Automatically when you use the website or API | Security, abuse prevention, and debugging |
We do not collect your AI assistant's chat history, memory, or other conversations. Reel only receives the video and the question your assistant sends when you ask it to use Reel.
2. How we use your data
- To process your videos and return results.
- To run your account, trial, and subscription.
- To keep Reel secure and prevent abuse (for example, enforcing limits and investigating misuse).
- To send service messages (receipts, billing changes, security notices). We do not send marketing email.
- To comply with law.
We do not sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
3. No training on your content
- Ouroboros does not use your videos, transcripts, questions, or outputs to train or improve AI models.
- We send video content to Google's Gemini API using a paid (billing-enabled) Google Cloud account. Under Google's Gemini API terms for paid services, Google does not use prompts, files (including videos), or responses to improve its products. Google may keep them for a limited time solely to detect abuse and meet legal requirements (Gemini API Additional Terms).
- Transcripts, scene logs, and on-screen text come from that same Gemini call. Reel does not send audio to a separate transcription vendor.
4. AI processing and accuracy
Reel uses AI models to describe videos. Outputs can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important before you rely on it. Reel does not identify people by their face or voice, and does not infer emotions or other sensitive traits.
5. Who processes your data (service providers)
We share data only with providers that help us run Reel, and only as needed for that purpose:
| Provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Gemini API) | AI video analysis, including public YouTube links | Video content or YouTube URL, your question, outputs |
| Vercel Blob | Holds uploaded files and Drive copies until they are deleted | Video files |
| Supabase | Database and authentication | Account info, saved outputs, usage records |
| Vercel | Hosts our website and API | Requests, technical data |
| Stripe | Payments, subscriptions, billing portal | Billing and payment info |
| Google Drive API (only if you connect Drive) | Lets you pick files to process | Only the files you pick |
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. In a merger or sale, we'll ask for your consent before transferring any data we got from Google.
6. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Source media: uploaded files and copies of Drive files | Deleted within 24 hours after processing finishes or fails. Copies sent to Google's Gemini Files API are deleted right after processing (Google auto-deletes them within 48 hours in any case). |
| YouTube videos | Never downloaded or stored by Reel. We send only the link to Google's Gemini API. |
| Outputs you don't save | Deleted after 30 days. |
| Outputs you save | Kept until you delete them or delete your account. Exception: outputs made from YouTube videos are deleted after 30 days even if saved. |
| Account info | Until you delete your account. |
| Usage and billing records | Kept for 7 years for billing, tax, and legal obligations. |
| Security and error logs | Reel does not keep a separate security-log store. Hosting access logs follow the host's retention. |
7. Deleting your data
- Delete a video's data: ask your AI assistant to "delete my Reel data for this video" (the
delete_videotool), or use Delete on the video in your Reel account page. - Delete everything: use Delete all my data or Delete account on your account page at https://reel.ouroborosapps.com/account, or email lawrence.a.hutchins@gmail.com.
- We complete deletion within 7 days of your request. Reel does not keep its own backup of your videos. Copies a hosting provider keeps follow that host's cycle. Billing records we must keep are retained as described above.
- Deleting data in Reel does not delete anything on YouTube, Google Drive, or other services. To delete it there, use those services directly.
- Deleting your account cancels the Reel subscription in Stripe so it does not renew.
- After you delete your account, we keep a one-way hash of your email address and a one-way hash of the card fingerprint, and no other personal data from the deleted account, only to prevent repeat trials.
8. Google user data (Google Sign-In and Google Drive)
If you sign in with Google or connect Google Drive, Reel accesses only:
- your basic profile and email (to sign you in), and
- only the specific Drive files you choose with the Google file picker. Reel uses the
drive.filepermission and cannot see the rest of your Drive.
We use these files only to give you the video results you asked for, and we send them only to the providers in section 5 needed to do that. We don't use Google user data for ads or to train AI models, and our staff won't view your files unless you ask us to (for example, in a support request), for security reasons, or when the law requires.
Reel's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can revoke Reel's access to your Google account at any time at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. When you revoke access, we delete the Google data we hold about you within 7 days.
9. YouTube
When you give Reel a public YouTube link, Reel sends the link to Google's Gemini API, which analyzes the video. Reel does not download, store, or redistribute YouTube videos or audio. Private and unlisted videos are not supported. Google's handling of the request is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Reel does not call the YouTube Data API. It does not retrieve titles, captions, or other YouTube API data.
10. Age requirement
Reel is for people 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact lawrence.a.hutchins@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, signed time-limited upload links, least-privilege access for staff, and automatic deletion of source media. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you as required by law.
12. Cookies
The Reel website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to run checkout. Reel does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
13. Where data is processed
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Google states Gemini API data may be stored transiently or cached in any country where it has facilities. Transfers of personal data from the EU, EEA, and UK are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. Reel is available only in regions where Google's Gemini API is offered.
14. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to certain processing, and to complain to a data-protection regulator. Use your account page or email lawrence.a.hutchins@gmail.com; we'll respond within the time the law requires.
15. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects how we use your data (especially Google data), we'll notify you and ask you to accept the new policy before we use your data in the new way.
